Aisha Dennis
Aisha started dancing from a young age, studying jazz and tap alongside street dance and hip-hop styles in her youth. Many years later, after attending a drumming class with Vieux, her passion for dance was reborn and so she began classes and workshops in Pan African dance. Learning dances from Southern Africa, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Senegal has given her a firm foundation but she felt a natural affinity with the Guinean style.
Aisha has made several trips to The Gambia, fallen in love with Africa, the culture, people and dance. Training with local and Guinean dancers has expanded her knowledge of rhythms and technique. She recently returned from Hamana’s Dance study trip to Senegal and will be going again in December for a month long stay. “I now look forward to and am honoured to be performing with the Hamana family!”
