Outstanding Senegalese musician Amadou (Jinx) Djighaly
is from the Casamance region of Senegal, just north of Guinea and south of The Gambia. He comes from a spiritual family and grew up with the vibrant sounds of West African music, which permeates the everyday life of the people there.
Jinx and Vieux lived together and performed together in Senegal for several years. They say ‘they are like brothers’, adding another close knit bond to the ‘family’ troupe that is known as Hamana.
Jinx recently joined Hamana in the UK. He is an accomplished Doundoun (drums) and Bolon (the West African base harp) player, having performed at various festivals and taught many drumming workshops in Senegal and now in the UK. Jinx plays both traditional West African music and fusion in his performances, linking lives through music.
